What we stand for

Strong practice orientation

All professors have a strong academic background as well as extensive practical experience in industry. Teaching is based on innovative methods to convey application-oriented knowledge. As we foster a continuous dialogue with industry, our graduates are ideally prepared for the domestic and international labour markets.

Intensive personal support

We are well known for our friendly study atmosphere. An excellent student-lecturer ratio allows for frequent contact between students and professors. Students benefit from intensive supervision and numerous personal support services such as orientation weeks, social integration events, and housing support. In addition, we have a strong focus on career promoting activities for students (e.g. career talks, job fairs, company visits).

International outlook

The University’s outlook is extremely international, with more than 130 partner universities all over the world. About twenty percent of students come from abroad, creating a truly open and multinational atmosphere on campus.

At the top of Bavaria

About our campus locations

Our main campus is located in the city Hof, a safe and cozy town located at the top of Bavaria and in the heart of Europe. Hof has about 45,000 inhabitants and offers all amenities of a university town: cinemas, a theater, an annual film festival and a variety of cafés, bars and clubs.

Our second campus in Münchberg is located about 20 kilometers from Hof and can easily be reached with our free semester bus and train ticket. Münchberg is a traditional center for textile education and has retained all charms of a small town. We also have a campus in Kronach and a learning site in Selb.

Our region shows the second-highest industrial density across Europe, many of them specialized in manufacturing machinery and plastic (automobile) parts, ceramics and textiles. Many of these companies are small and medium sized and so-called hidden champions in their field and offer great opportunities for internships and entry jobs.

During your stay here, you can enjoy many fun activities in the area. Hof‘s and Münchberg‘s green surroundings are ideal for all outdoor activities (biking, climbing, skiing,...) and major cities like Berlin, Prague or Munich are within easy reach by train or bus. Thus, you have the opportunity to not only study in a practice-oriented environment but also enjoy life outside the classroom.
